Proud Parents

So last weekend we went down to Utah for Jeff's mission reunion.(OOPS this was actually about a month ago. A month team!) Also to see my aunt and sister! Little did everyone know we were going down to look at dogs. Since the day we found out we couldn't bring the Ruthsters we decided that it would be best to find another pup.

So we had a secret mission. We had planned to look at a dog 3 dogs in the Logan area before we made it down the the reunion. As we were driving- Jeff said " WAIT,  look at the invite to the reunion" Obviously Jeff doesn't shout very often, so I was freaked out to say the least." After all the commotion settled down we looked out the invite and oops we missed it! It was the day before.  So with a bummed Jeffrey we continued the drive down to Logan.

As we got closer we started feeling giddy, and we couldn't stop smiling or giggling.  You know that nervous excitement you get when you're about to do something that will change your life?
That was happening.  We had an appointment to meet the first dog at 3.  And it was love at first sight. I mean seriously we couldn't have picked a cuter pup! We spent about 15 minutes talking to the guy selling him and then he was OURS! I mean look at that little chicken! Also we immediately named him Basil. We just thought it was perfect!

We kept him in my aunts garage, while we watched conference. You should of seen Jeff when Basil started to wine. He got super worried and immediately went out to play with him. (Can you say best future daddy ever??) While we were at Aprils' we took him on some walks and all he wanted to do was get the birds. I mean I've never seen a dog stare at a bird for so long.  He even pointed! Which is great news. We've got a hunting dog on our hands!! We played a lot with him in the garage- we didn't want him to run away and he pulled way to much on the leash! But we started to fall even more in love with his spunky little attitude.
Always a huntin'

On the way home we discovered that the poor Basil gets really carsick- like drooling all over the place carsick. So we gave him some benedryl to knock him out. And boy did it work!

He refused to calm down (even with benedryl)
Unless I sat with him in the back.

When we got home we were super nervous about him freaking out about being inside, would he rip everything to shreds? Is he going to pee and poop everywhere? (let me tell you the stress was building up, but luckily short-lived). With the exception of a few accidents the first week, he learned quickly and there was no mess cleaning for Clara.
Oh except for the toys he quickly ripped to pieces.
But hey they were duck toys, what do you expect?
He shreds things

He's so much better at frisbee than I am
Since bringing him home, we've found that if we don't take him to the park to run around at least twice a day, we won't get anything done.  Literally nothing. He is such a little ball of energy. When we wake up he wants to play, when he's done eating he wants to play, when were going to class he wants to play, when we're doing homework he wants to play when he comes back from the park he wants to play. Get the picture?

But we couldn't love him more. He has seriously brightened our lives so much, and we didn't think it needed to be brightened.
He is Jeff's little baby and it's so fun to see my boys play

He fits in perfectly with our family. And we can't wait till we can have our Ruthie girl too. Hopefully they'll get along!
